Maternal Infant Health Program (MIHP)

Home • Maternal Infant Health Program (MIHP)

The Maternal Infant Health Program (MIHP) is offered to pregnant women and infants with Medicaid who live in Shiawassee County. This program is there to help moms through their pregnancy and through the infants first year of life. We offer services in the home, at our office or in the community. A Registered Nurse and a Family Care Coordinator work to provide education on everything from growth and development, feeding and nutrition, safety, things to expect during pregnancy or things to anticipate with your infant. The MIHP helps with community resources and referrals. We are here to provide support for both mom and baby.

Some of the benefits to the program include:

  • Monitoring of health during pregnancy including weight gain, nutritional status, changes occurring to your body, education on growth and development of baby.
  • Things to expect during labor and delivery.
  • Breastfeeding support
  • Growth checks on infant in the home
  • Developmental screenings for infant
  • Community resources
  • A Registered Nurse and a Family Care Coordinator can come right to your home to provide one-on-one support and education.

Our goal is for you to have a healthy, full-term pregnancy and a healthy, happy, growing infant.
